Six habits in six weeks — this has been the challenge we have given everyone in our eight-county Northern Kentucky area over the past six weeks.

The challenge ended Sunday, Oct. 9, so now it is time to turn in those forms so you have a chance to win one of the nice prizes. Be sure to turn in your forms by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 using the online submission at www.ca.uky.edu/boone or in person at the Carroll County Extension Office. You cannot win unless you turn in your forms.

Upcoming food programs

Rumor has it there is a new girl in town.

I hear she is young, but energetic.  People tell me she is a third-generation agriculture agent, who attended school at the University of Kentucky and is a genuine people person. 

Furthermore, I hear she’s working with the 4-H program as well. The talk is that she is honored to be in Carroll County, and eager to do all she can to assist its residents.

Extension Homemaker members will travel to Grant County on Tuesday, Oct. 11 for their annual meeting with the other seven counties in the Northern Kentucky Area.

“Salute Extension Homemakers” is the theme of this year’s meeting. Guest speaker is retired 1st Sgt. Pamela J.B. Luce, LPCC. Luce has a varied military career and currently serves on the board of directors of the Veterans Program Trust Fund.

Special guest pianist is Agnes Beach Johnson, also know as, “The Doll Lady.”

It is estimated that one in 133 Americans have gluten sensitivity or celiac disease today.

Today at noon at the Exten-sion office, Diane Mason, RN, the Boone County Exten-sion agent for family and consumer sciences, will teach a program, “Going without Gluten.” There is no cost to attend. This is the September Extension Homemakers’ lesson, but everyone interested is invited to attend.
