  • Peace and war

    Peace is fleeting these days. We can hardly count on two days in a row without heartbreaking reporting of conflict and death. The next you know we’ll be reading about vipers invading our playgrounds.

    Actually, that is a good sign.

    As the prophet Isaiah tells it, there is an age of peace coming, and one of the signs of this age is the absence of age-old conflicts and fears. Like snakes.

    English Baptist Church, 3449 Hwy 389 in English is holding a yard sale from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. June 4-6.

    Community giveaway at Sanders Baptist

    Sanders Baptist Church will hold its annual community giveaway this Saturday, June 6, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Items will include clothing and housewares and all is free.  Donations will be accepted toward the mission programs at the church.

    A young man had been promoted to an important position in his company. He’d never dreamed he’d be in such a position, much less at such a young age. So he went to see the venerable old timer in the company, and said, “Sir, I was wondering if you could give me some advice.”

    The old timer came back with just two words: “Right decisions!”
