  • Jesus, remember me when you are in the Kingdom

    We welcomed the month of November with Halloween celebrations. My reflection during this month is on saints and sinners. I got scared several times while running through the streets of Carrollton early in the mornings when I saw ugly and scary statues in front of the houses. Halloween celebration is over now thanksgiving is right around the corner. It is nice to think about the history and spiritual meaning of the annual celebrations.

  • The Word of God answers our needs, provides advice

    I believe the Word of God has the anointing (ability) to speak to people. We read the Word and expound on it but the true Word of God is what speaks to our Spirit and tells us what to do and what not to do. It’s the answer to our needs and advice from our Savior, so I want to share God’s Word with you:

     

    Psalm 91, In God we trust,

    1.                  He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

  • Project Comfort prepares seniors for winter months

    I often wonder what it must have been like for the twelve disciples when Jesus washed their feet. I think Peter spoke for the group when he declared, “Never shall You wash my feet!”  Peter said this because he knew that it was unnatural for the leader of a group to humble himself and serve those who followed him. This was especially true when the leader of the group was no less than the Savior of the world.  But this is what Jesus did.  He became a servant and served His closest friends and followers.

    Methodist church plans trunk-or-treat event

    Carrollton United Methodist Church, 310 Highland Avenue, will host a trunk-or-treat event on Monday, Oct. 31, in the parking lot on Fourth Street behind the church.  There will be candy and bouncies for the kids, and hot chocolate, cider and coffee for the adults.   Join us from 6-8 p.m. for an evening of fun and safe Halloween activities. Kids should be accompanied by adults.

    First Baptist to hold revival, annual picnic

    First Baptist Church, 401 Highland Ave. in Carrollton will be holding a revival with speaker, Dr. Dan Garland from Nashville, Tenn. Sunday Oct. 23, 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and Monday, Oct. 24 through Wed. Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the church.

    The annual church picnic will be held later Sunday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. at General Butler State Resort Park, back entrance, off of 11th Street. For more information please call the church (502) 732-4396.

  • To attend God’s reunion, people only need to ask

    When there is an event in our city, whether it is the fair, a car exhibit, the Tobacco Festival, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving day, graduation day, Mother’s Day, a wedding, someone’s birthday or many other events throughout the year, families gather and spend time in companionship, everybody together.

    These reunions enlighten kids and adults. We take many pictures, play and eat. They are moments that we will always remember and will always be a part of our lives.

    Revival to begin at Worthville Baptist

    Worthville Baptist Church will hold a revival, Sunday, Oct. 9 beginning at 11 a.m. thru Wednesday, Oct. 12.  at  6:30 p.m.
