Quartet returns to Christian church

The Commonwealth Quartet of Nashville, Tenn., area, is making its third visit to Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St., to perform a concert at 6 p.m.  Saturday, Oct. 1.

They also will be singing during the worship service at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The southern-style gospel group features one of the best tenors on the road.

They tell me that Lock Road once offered a scenic tour past the lock, the lockmaster residences and the bend in the Kentucky River before bringing you to the armory stoplight.

With the river rising as it does, however, the stability of that road was less and less predictable. Eventually it was closed to through traffic. By the time I moved here, time had reduced the portion of the road past the lock to a wide, dirt trail accessible only on foot.

The Commonwealth Quartet from the Nashville, Tenn., area, is making its third consecutive trip to the Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth Street, for a concert on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. They also will be singing for  worship service Sunday, Oct. 2 at 11:15 a.m. The southern-style gospel group features one of the best tenors on the road. All are welcome to attend either or both services. Refreshments will be served on Saturday night after the concert in the fellowship hall and a free-will offering will be taken to help with the group’s expenses.
