  • The danger of not doing

As Christians, we are blessed to have our Bibles. Through his Word, God encourages us, corrects us, guides us and teaches us about himself. For this reason, it is very important that you and I encounter the truths of Scripture regularly. The two most common ways we do this are through reading the Bible ourselves and through listening to faithful preaching and teaching. Both are important to our growth as believers, but James tells us that there is a danger that we must be aware of and avoid when we encounter God’s Word.

  • Chasing after other gods

    Malachi 3:5-7

The Jews had rebuilt the temple and were awaiting the Messiah’s coming. But while they waited, they fell under the attack of pride, disrespect and compromise. The people and their priests offered God blemished sacrifices, divorced their first wives, married heathen women and failed to support the temple ministry with their tithes. Malachi charged them to recognize their sins, reminding them that the wicked would be judged, and the righteous would be blessed.

  • There is always room at the table

    1 Corinthians 10:17 ESV

Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.

  • Know your enemy

The enemy of the soul (the devil) is a liar and a master of deception. In order for us to be victorious against the enemy of our soul; we need to be aware of his tactics. Paul to the church of Corinth said “lest satan should get an advantage of us: we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11). We can thwart his attacks and be victorious over his deceptive strategies if we know his tactics and how he operates.

  • Wanting and getting more in life

Once upon a time I had $3 pants.

Dark, forest-y green rayon pinstriped dress slacks, with teeny flecks of black in the fabric. Regularly $45 marked down to $14.29 with an additional 30 percent off, then another 70 percent off -- $3 pants!

I was so excited about my purchase that when I got them home I immediately put them in a place of honor in my closet and sat on my bed to admire my precious find.

  • Get in the game with God

Well it’s that time of year. High school basketball tournaments are under way. The NCAA tourneys are getting kicked off. It’s an awesome time of year! But there is one thing that we all know for sure. Most sports teams have a star player. Get the ball to him and he’ll score. Get him up at bat with two men on base and he’ll hit a homerun.

  • The power of feeding the masses discussed

Of all the amazing miracles performed during Jesus’ ministry, there is only one that is actually mentioned in all four Gospels; The feeding of the 5,000.  Each gospel writer chose their favorite stories of Jesus from their own perspectives, yet all four chose this one.  To me, that means we as Christians should take a good hard look at it.
