  • Hymn sing March 22

    Sanders Baptist Church will be hosting its monthly hymn sing on Sunday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

  • General Butler State Resort Park, Friends of Butler and the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hosted a networking event March 10, called “Business After Hours” at the park. Community organizations and business owners were invited to attend.

  • The pirates are coming to Carroll County High School March 20-21, as “The Pirate of Penzance” will take the Carroll County High School stage.

    Director Jennifer Beach said the capability of this group was right to revive the performance, which was last performed in 2010. It takes a special performer for the role of Mabel, who will be played by Kathryn Gillespie, Beach said. The cast loves the play and has been very enthusiastic, even researching roles on their own.

    River Run Gallery Fun Art Studio, Main Street in Carrollton will host a benefit student art show/reception, 6-8 p.m. The public is invited to attend and vote for their favorite by putting money in a corresponding cup. When the show is over at the end of March, they will announce the winner. The Carroll County Animal Support will receive all funds raised. For more information call (502) 523-0663.

  • Although grace is free, hope recently cost me $8 on Etsy, the website where people sell their handiwork.

    For $8 I bought a wire bracelet that forms the word “hope,” which I’ve been wearing all week.

    Lately, hope has been my thing. I was talking with a tattoo artist for a story I’m working on and told him if I ever got a tattoo it would be the word hope in simple script, lower-case lettering, written very small, with a period at the end. (hope.)

  • Easter silent auction baskets to benefit the Carrollton Relay For Life, will be up for bid at the Carrollton, Kroger. Highest bid will receive the basket. You may review and bid on the baskets from now until March 24. All baskets are located behind the U scans at Kroger and have individual themes, such as:  Doc McStufins, Frozen, Sofia the First, Cars & Planes and Ninja Turtles.
