  • First Baptist Church of Carrollton held its annual Vacation Bible School last week, beginning June 28.

  • With the heavy rains over the last few days, University of Kentucky tobacco specialist Dr. Bob Pearce warns that tobacco producers may see some wilting and scald problems as the sun comes back out.

    This situation is similar to what was seen in the tobacco around this same time about two years ago.  What are growers to do?

    Be patient, and hope the crop recovers quickly.

  • The Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky celebrated their 133rd annual convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville on June 17-19. The convention was well attended by funeral directors, suppliers and their families.

    Robbie Brantley of Brownsville was elected President of the Association. Rob Riley of Carrollton was elected sergeant-at-arms.

  • Bon Worth, located at the Vanity Fair Outlet Mall in Carrollton is having a  “Christmas in July” canned food drive. “Share the warmth of giving” by bringing in non-perishable food items from July 7-12, to the store in Carrollton. Bon Worth will be offering a discount to customers who participate. The donated food will be given to the Carroll County Food Pantry.

  • The city of Carrollton is hosting its annual Fourth of July Celebration on July 4, at Point Park. The event is co-sponsored by Carroll County Fiscal Court and Carrollton/Carroll County Tourism.

    The firework show, provided by Vito’s Fireworks of Covington, will begin at 10 p.m. The show will include a firework fountain and a display resembling the American flag.

  • The Carroll County Public Library Pay off your fines with food for the Carroll County Food Pantry will begin July 15. For more information call the library, (502) 732-7020.
