  • Zachary Allen Mahoney of Carrollton and Amber Nicole Mills of Carrollton exchanged vows Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Carroll County Courthouse in Carrollton.

    The bride is the daughter of Rhonda McCoy of Carrollton. She is a 2008 graduate of Carroll County High School.

    The groom is the son of Jeffery Mahoney of Carrollton and Meloney Stivers of Carrollton. He is a 2010 graduate of  Carroll County High School and is employed as a cashier with Prestonville Shell in Prestonville, Ky.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Donald Allen Rassman Jr. of Carrollton announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Shauna Marie Rassman to Johnny Ray Beach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lee Beach of Patriot Ind.

    The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Carroll County High School and a 2010 graduate of Empire Hair School. She is employed at Belterra Casino and Resort in Vevay, Ind.

    The Groom-to-be is a 2011 graduate of Switzerland County High School and is employed at Belterra Casino Resort in Vevay.

  • It’s time to mark your calendars for the beginning of summer. June 7-15 will be the Carroll County Fair. 

    As I have mentioned several times, I am so excited to be the 4-H Youth Develop-ment Agent for Carroll County. I have been accepted by so many agencies and organizations that are so receiving of the programs that 4-H has to offer. 

  • With last week’s article focusing on spring fertilization of lawns, this week’s article will continue the discussion with mowing lawns.

    The first mowing, usually in late March, makes the lawn look spring-like and very attractive.  Subsequent regular mowing hardens the grass for drought and heat stresses later on. When the first clump of grass grows above the mowing height, mow, even if a lot of the yard does not need to be mowed yet.

  • This Thursday, March 21 we are offering a special program, “Caring for the Caregiver” at 6 p.m. at the Extension office.

  • We all have certain pet peeves, those things that get under our skin and make us mad. Maybe it’s certain drivers or people with certain driving habits. For me, it’s being called “Buddy.”

    Carroll County High School Site Based Decision Making Council meets at 4:15 p.m. in the high school conference room.

    Carrollton Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon at Butler Park lodge.

    AA Big Book study groups meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St.
