  • Sanders Baptist hosting fall revival Oct. 6-9

    Sanders Baptist Church will host a fall revival in October. The public is invited to attend.

    The event starts with the Sunday worship service at 11 a.m. Oct. 6 and will continue at 7 p.m. each evening through Wednesday, Oct. 9.

    Pastor Dwight Parker of New Liberty Baptist Church will be the featured speaker. There will be special music for each service.

  • Amanda O’Neal of Carrollton announces the birth of her son, Weston O’Neal, born Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Big brother, Walker, age 2 helped welcome Weston home.

    Maternal grandparents are Eugene and Fonda O’Neal; and great-grandparents are Judy May, and Mary and Joe O’Neal all of Carrollton.

  • Carroll County Retired Teachers Association met Friday, Sept. 20, at Pat’s Place. There were 13 members present.

    After enjoying a lunch prepared by Donna Parish and Pat Perkins, President Cassandra McBurney called the meeting to order. The minutes of the May meeting were read by secretary Velma Hunt and approved as read. The financial report was given by the treasurer.

  • While members of the Carroll County High School FFA cooked hamburgers and hot dogs, the Carroll County Soil Conservation District held its annual field day Thursday in the shadows of the grain-drying and storage bins owned by Christ-man Farms in Preston-ville.

  • It seems inspiration can come when we least expect it.

    That’s something Nick Sabelhaus, 23, of Carrollton, has discovered over the past two years. Growing up, the 2008 Carroll County High School graduate had never been interested in physical activity and had no specific goals for his future.

    “I’m a naturally lazy person,” Nick admits.
