Today's Features

  •  Congratulations to Dustin Rosenbaum, member of the Carroll County 4-H Shooting Sports Club, for his great success at the 2012 Kentucky Blue Grass Games, held July 15th in Anderson County.

    In the Three Position Small Bore Rifle Match, Dustin scored 508 points out of a possible 600 points. Not only did he win his age group with this score, but he also was the overall match winner.

    In the Dewar’s Rifle Match, Dustin scored 375 points out of a possible 400 points, earning him the top spot in his age group, and second overall in the match.

  •  Last week, Monday, July 16 through Friday, July 20 mornings, we held our first Youth Sewing Camp and taught 14 girls and one boy ages 8-12 years old the beginning steps in sewing. What a fun week. At 9 a.m. on Monday the children arrived bright and eagerly looking forward to the fun-filled week as they learned to sew.

    Tuesday, July 31: Sweet tooth bingo, 10 a.m.

  • On July 3, 2012, the Carrollton Woman’s Club met at Pat’s House at 7 p.m. to begin its 98th year in Carrollton. The first organizational meeting was in 1914.

    Karen Claiborne presided at the meeting and gave some of the club history.

    Lil Howe was the first president of the Carrollton Woman’s Club.

    Peggy Barnes is the new president of Kentucky Federation of Woman’s Clubs. Patricia Shoemaker is the new governor of the Fifth District.

    Plans were made for the Fifth District Fall Conference that will be held Sept. 22.

  •   The Kentucky Humanities Council celebrates its 20th anniversary of its Kentucky Chautauqua program with a stop in Carrollton at General Butler State Resort Park Aug. 2.

    The visit is one of five across the state at Kentucky State Parks Aug. 1-5 for the program, which for two decades has helped tell Kentucky’s story through interesting dramatic characters.

    Carrollton Rotary Club meets at the lodge at General Butler State Resort Park at noon.

    AA Big Book study groups meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St.

    Cartmell Elementary School Site Based Decision Making Council meets at 3:30 p.m. an the school.

    Champions for a Drug-Free Carroll County meets at 11:30 a.m. in the community room, Carroll County Public Library.
