  • Casey and Rachel Mefford of Worthville would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Lillianna Jean Mefford, born 6:36 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Ind. She weighed six pounds and was 19 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Mark and Carol Bates of Sanders, Ky.
    Paternal grandparents are Dale and Anna Katherine Mefford of Worthville.

  • This is National Family Week. This year, the National Alliance for Children and Families has designated its annual National Family Week observance, Nov. 20-26, as a time to pay tribute to military families and the organizations that support and strengthen them. This coincides with November being Military Family Month.

    National Family Week has been annually promoted by the Alliance, a national nonprofit membership organization for more than 40 years.
