  • Annual homecoming planned at Hopewell

    Hopewell Community Church on Locust Road is having its annual homecoming, from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8. Everyone is invited to join them for fellowship and music.

  • A new Honey Boo Boo Look Alike Contest will be held at 6 p.m., Sept. 6 during First Friday at the Courthouse Square in Carrollton.

    The Honey Boo Boo Look Alike Contest will be held for children ages 3 to 10.

  • Chuck Bauer Sales Training recently announced that D.J. Carroll of Carrollton is now an official coach with the organization.

    In a news release, the company said Carroll is now working with the company on a limited part-time basis, but that he may be full time with them soon.

    Carroll has already conducted some seminars for the firm.

    “[I’m] so excited about the future of this business and being a part of it,” Carroll said. He said the week of training was “crazy busy” and that he enjoyed being part of it.

  • Over the past several months, a couple of the area Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agents and I have been planning a new Exten-sion program that focuses more on our local natural resources.

    We call this program “Con-serving Resou-rces through Agri-cultural and Natural Explor-ation,” or CRANE.

    CRANE was developed to bring awareness and consideration to our natural resources by thinking outside of the classroom and learning about those resources through exploring our surroundings.

  • We are so very proud of our team of Carroll and Gallatin 4-Hers who took second place at the 4-H State Fair Sewing Skill-athon Satur-day, Aug. 24.

    Team members, Lorinda Bennett, Gabby Bowen, Hannah Welch of Carrollton and Kelli Deaton of Warsaw had to sew a garment from a pattern that they had never seen before and identify a variety of different fabrics, sewing notions, parts of the sewing machine, seam finishes and pattern markings.
