  • Six habits – six weeks. That is the challenge that the Northern Kentucky Cooperative Extension family and consumer sciences agents are giving to everyone in the eight-county area.

    Health and Wealth Challenge 2011 runs from Aug. 29 to Oct. 9.

    We invite all Carroll County residents to sign up for the challenge. If you complete and log six health and wealth habits during the challenge, and submit your completed tracker form you will be eligible for a number of nice prizes.

    Carrollton Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon at Butler Park lodge.

    AA Big Book study groups meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St.

    Carroll County High School Site Based Decision Making Council meets at 4 p.m. in the high school conference room.

  • Sanders Baptist Church will host its monthly hymn sing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. Pastor Hardin Lowe and the congregation invite the public to attend.
     

  • A young boy and an old man were walking with a donkey when a group of people passed by.

    “Isn’t that ridiculous that no one’s riding that donkey,” one person said.

    So, the old man told the boy to ride the donkey.

    Another group of people passed by and someone said, “That’s terrible! Look at that young boy riding that donkey while the old man walks.”

  • The annual reunion for all who have attended or graduated from Campbelsburg High School will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, at Providence Baptist Church, in Campbellsburg.

    Meet and greet your friends from 4-6 p.m.; snacks will be provided. The program starts at 6 p.m.

    Cost is $15 per person; reservations are due  Wednesday, Aug. 24. Checks may be mailed to  Sue K. Nelson, c/o United Citizens Bank, P.O. Box 250, Campbellsburg, KY 40011.

  • Carrollton Rotary Club’s 10th annual Scholarship Golf Scramble will host two flights of teams Wednesday, Sept. 14, at General Butler State Resort Park golf course.

    The event, sponsored by Irving Materials Inc., raises funds for college scholarships that the club awards to graduating Carroll County seniors. Last year $9,000, the club awarded in scholarships.

    Six-person teams are invited to play for $450 with 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. tee times. Complimentary lunch will be prepared by Rotarian Barry Cook.

  • Rosie Navarro and Steve Bush, both of Warsaw, Ky., announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Jessica Bush of Turners Station, Ky., to Chris Perry of Turners Station, son of Bob Perry and Dorothy Perry, both of Carrollton, Ky.

    The bride-elect attended Gallatin County High School. The groom-to-be attended Carroll County High School.

    The wedding will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at English Baptist Church, 3449 Hwy 389, in Carrollton. A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony. All family and friends are invited to attend.

    Pool hours are noon  to 5:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
