  • Joy L. Hall, formerly of Carroll County, Ky., has Strauss & Troy are as an associate at the firm, which specializes in tax law.

  • What a wonderful  Independence Day celebration we had at the home of Joe and Sandy Beall in Ghent on Saturday, July 2.

    They do this every year and we feel so privileged to be on their guest list. It has become such  a tradition that even our grandson, Justin, doesn’t want to miss out on all of the festivities and food. Joe and Sandy plan months ahead for this big event – actually, I can honestly say a year in advance. We have already received our “pre-invite” for July 7, 2012.

    I will teach a Mini-Canning work-shop from 5-8 p.m. Thurs-day, July 21, at the Exten-sion office. Cost is $5.

  • There are several producers still needing to obtain Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training to be eligible for cost-share with Cattle Genetics and Cattle Handling Facilities.

    A final makeup class is set for 7 p.m. Thurs-day, July 14, at the Carroll County Exten-sion Office. The fee is $5 per person, and the training takes a little over an hour. We will accept cash; checks must be made out to the Kentucky Beef Network.
