  • Beginning March 2, Cove Hill Baptist Church, 4751 Mound Hill Road, will begin a new era of Wednesday night worship at 7 p.m. All are welcome.
     

  • Local Christian music ensemble the Infinite Realm will present a “Week of Compassion” concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St.

  • Mark Allen Chapman will be appearing with his Gospel music ministry at the Carrollton Wesleyan Church, located at 216 Third Street in Carrollton on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 27 beginning at 10:30 a.m.

  • My son landed in a college course on Atheism last year. As you would expect, this raised his old man’s eyebrows. Having read my share of stormy essays and sympathetic voices of doubt, I wondered how a preacher’s kid would hear these voices. The good news is that he weathered the hostility of Marx, Freud, and Dawkins and is hopefully a bit more thoughtful about the thought required of faith.

  • I am planning a brunch for about 50 friends to be held in about a month. I am working on my menu now, trying to decide just what to have from the hours of 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

    I want it to be very simple, but really nice. I don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking and I also want some simple things that friends can help me prepare because I don’t want them to have to work too hard.

  • Patrick Underwood, Gallatin Steel’s Environmental Process Coordinator, has been recognized by the Steel Manufacturers Association for his personal and professional commitment to promoting environmental education and responsibility.  Underwood will be receiving the SMA’s Environmental Excellence Award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. May 10 during the Annual Members Conference.
