Meredith Russo and Misty Wheeler, both of Carroll County, were among eight citizens from Oldham, Henry and Carroll counties who recently completed the KSP Citizen’s Police Academy at Post 5 in Campbellsburg. Graduates were honored at a ceremony and dinner held at Our Best restaurant in Henry County Monday, April 22.

Music for the Cure Kids Afternoon, sponsored by Lots of Love Relay for Life Team from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, May 18, at Main and Third streets in Carrollton. 

Cost is $5 for unlimited jumping on inflatable, $1 face painting. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available.

Less than 5 percent of Americans consume the minimum recommended amount of whole grains.

Although Ameri-cans generally eat enough total grains, most grains consumed are “refin-ed” grains rather than “whole” grains. Unfortunately, many refined grain foods are high in solid fats and added sugars.

There is evidence that eating whole grains may reduce the risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer (e.g., colon) as well as help control body weight.
