  • “Walk a little slower Daddy”

     

    “Walk a little slower, Daddy!” said a little child so small.

    “I’m following in your footsteps and I don’t want to fall.

     

    Sometimes your steps are very fast; sometimes they’re hard to see;

    So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me.

     

    Someday when I’m all grown up, you’re what I want to be.

  • Last week I wrote a little bit about the prayer week at my church.

    I had committed to go every morning and pray for 30 minutes about a certain particular situation. Here are some of my observations from each day:

    Day 1: Well, I did it. I actually prayed for a half hour. As I was praying, I thought about the wind and that Jesus said the Holy Spirit, like the wind, blows where it wills.

    Carrollton Lions Club meeting at noon at Butler Park lodge.

    Carroll County Water District No. 1 meets at 3 p.m. at the office, 205 Main Cross St., Ghent.

    Carroll County Tobacco Festival Committee meets, 6:30 p.m., at Welch’s Riverside Restaurant.

    Alcoholics Anonymous, 8 p.m., Carrollton Christian Church.

    Friday, Dec. 12

    AA Big Book study group meets every Friday at 2 p.m. at Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St.

  • The News-Democrat and The Trimble Banner held the annual holiday coloring contest. These three children colored the winning pictures.

    Every child who entered received a free Hometown one-topping individual pizza. Winners of each category will receive a large pizza of their choice sponsored by Hometown Pizza.

    My wife, Emily, and I were lucky enough to enjoy a recent afternoon in the frying pan of the United States. the south Florida sun. We left Kentucky a few days before with the intentions to get a glimpse of former University of Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

  • After our first snowfall in November, it is easy to start thinking about winter storms when winter has not even officially arrived, due to the calendar.  It is hard to tell if there will be many winter storms from year to year, but each year we should make sure that we are prepared for winter storms.

    Winter storms typically have low temperatures and are sometimes accompanied by ice, sleet, freezing rain, and snow.

  • Thursday, Dec. 4

    Westside Volunteer Fire Department, 680 Carlisle St., in Prestonville, will hold their annual “Christmas for Kids”, silent auction starting at 6 p.m. and spaghetti dinner at 7 p.m., dinner includes spaghetti, garlic bread, cookie and drink. Adult dinner is $5 per plate and children, $3 per plate.

    Alcoholics Anonymous, 8 p.m., Carrollton Christian Church.

    Caby M. Froman Club meets at noon at Butler Park lodge.
