  • The McDonald’s® Restaurants of Kentuckiana Black History Makers of Tomorrow scholarship program—offering a total of $15,000 to outstanding high school students—is now accepting applications. Applications must be completed online before Jan. 31, 2017.

    The McDonald’s Black History Makers of Tomorrow scholarship program honors outstanding high school seniors, with at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean descent, who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, character and community service.

  •  Randy Cull Crawford III was born, Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, to Randy Crawford Jr. and Tammy Foster of Mayfield, Ky., both formerly of Carrollton, Ky.

    Sisters, Makaela and Kelsie Crawford of Murray, Ky. and brothers, Leon and Micah Burchfield of Mayfield, helped welcome him home.

    Paternal grandparents are Randy Crawford, Sr. of Independence, Ky. and Angela Corado Gonzalez of Carrollton. Paternal great-grandmother is Rose Adams of Carrollton.

  • United Citizens Bank and Trust Co. of Carrollton recently honored posthumously a proclamation for John M. Berry, Jr. recently of Henry County.

    Berry served the bank as a director for more than 50 years and served as president of their holding company for some time. He was a farmer, a staunch supporter of the family farm and was involved in many agricultural projects and programs. He served the tobacco farmer extensively by being President of the Burley Tobacco-Growers Coop for many years.
