  • Robert Herbert Cooley, 74

    MILTON, Ky.—Robert Herbert Cooley, 74, died March 31, 2012, at Kendra Nursing Facility in Louisville, Ky.

    Cremation was chosen by the family. Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, 213 Fifth St., in Carrollton assisted the family in the arrangements.

    Survivors include his wife, Martha Layton Cooley of Milton; a son, Darrell Cooley of Milton; a daughter, Helen Widmayer; and nine grandchildren.

    His parents, Dorie H. and Annie Ellen Hyden Cooley; a son, Robert Cooley Jr.; amd daughters, Marcella Handlous, Sue Cooley and Jennita Cooley preceded him in death.

  • Betty J. Zembrodt, 84

    Ft. WRIGHT, Ky.–Betty J. Zembrodt (nee Klump), 84, of Ft. Wright, formerly of Perry Park, Ky., died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at her residence in Ft. Wright.

    Mass of Christian Burial was said Friday, March 23, at St. Agnes Church in Park Hills, Ky. Entombment was in the St. John Cemetery Mausoleum in Ft. Wright. Middendorf Funeral Home, 3312 Madison Pike, Ft. Wright was in charge of arrangements.

  • Chester Lee Calvert, 85

    BEDFORD, Ky.—Chester Lee Calvert, 85, of Bedford died, Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Signature Health Care in Bedford.

    Funeral services along with Masonic services were held March 22 at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, in Carrollton with the Rev. Carl Rucker officiating. Cremation was chosen by the family.

    Mr. Rucker was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Trimble County to the late Lawrence and Clara Spillman Calvert. He was a farmer and had worked at Big Barley and Growers Tobacco Warehouses. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II.

     Mt. CARMEL, ILL.— A. Dale Loveless, 61, of Mt. Carmel, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, Ky.

    Funeral services were held March 24, at Evangelical United Methodist Church, Mt Carmel with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry St. in Mt. Carmel was in charge of arrangements.

  • George “Bob” Robert Backus, 70

    MADISON, Ind.—George “Bob” Robert Backus, 70, of Madison died, Sunday, March 25, 2012, at his residence.

    Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 29 at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madision with the Rev. Ron Lee officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, from 10 a.m. until time of service at Morgan & Nay. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Canaan, Ind.

  • Benjamin Ray Tharp, 55

    BEDFORD, Ky.—Benjamin Ray Tharp, 55 of Bedford, died Tuesday, March, 13, 2012, at the Robley Rex Veterans Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    A celebration of life took place on March17 at Faith Community Baptist Church in Carrollton, Ky.

    He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Tharp; son Todd Tharp both of Bedford, Ky.; and his mother Joyce Sanders of Carrollton.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin E. Tharp; and step-father, Kenneth Teague Sanders.

  • Lee Thomas “Tom” Renschler, 78

    McKEES ROCKS, PENN.—Lee Thomas “Tom” Renschler, 78, of McKees, formerly of Carrollton, Ky. died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Country Meadows in Bridgeville, Penn.

    Mass of Christian Burial was held March 12, at St. John of God Parish, St. Mary’s Church in McKees Rocks. Interment was in the Resurrection Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Penn.

    Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Tracy) Renschler of Philadelphia, Penn. and Stephen (Jamie) Renschler of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren.

  • Mary M. Ricketts, 93

    CARROLLTON, Ky.—Mary M. Ricketts, 93, of Carrollton, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation. 

    Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home in New Castle, Ky. officiated by the Rev. Carol Rucker of Campbellsburg. Interment will be in the New Castle Cemetery.

    OWENTON, Ky.–Lori Taylor Powers, 49, of Owenton, died, Thursday,  March 15, 2012, at New Horizons Medical Center in Owenton.

    Funeral services were held at Long Ridge Baptist Church on March 20. Burial was in the Owenton cemetery. McDonald and New Funeral Home on Seminary Street in Owenton was in charge of the arrangements.

  • Thomas Darin Powell, 46

    MILTON, Ky.—Thomas Darin Powell, 46, of Milton, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Funeral services were held March 16 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio, with the Rev. Doug Baker officiating. Interment was in the Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County.

    Mr. Powell was a graduate of Arcanum High School with the class of 1984. He was an electrician with Art’s Electric in Carrollton, Ky.
