  • Robert E. Sandlin, 81

    WORTHVILLE, Ky.—Robert E. Sandlin, 81, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast.

    A memorial Service will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave. in Carrollton.  Cremation has been chosen by the family.

    Survivors include his daughter, Tina Skirvin of Worthville; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

    His parents, Charlie and Mattie Collin Sandlin preceded him in death.

  • “Red” Platt, 75

    SANDERS, Ky.—“Red” Platt, 75, of Sanders, died, Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, in Carrollton, Ky.

     Funeral Services were held Tuesday, September 18, at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton with the Rev. Pat Butcher officiating. Burial was in the Dallasburg Masonic Cemetery in Wheatley, Ky. Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., in Carrollton was entrusted with the arrangements.

  • Mary Ruth Ogburn, 79

    UNION, Ky.—Mary Ruth Ogburn, 79, died, Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Hospice.

    Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton with the Rev. Jim Hale officiating.

    Survivors include her son, Mark Ogburn of Union; a daughter, Thelma Ogburn of Warsaw; and two grandchildren.

    Her parents, Beverly and Margaret Miller Dermon; and her husband, Stanley Ogburn preceded her in death.

  • Louise Scholey Anderson, 83

    CARROLLTON, Ky.—Louise Scholey Anderson, 83, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Carrollton.

    A private graveside service was held Monday, Sept. 17 at the English Cemetery in Carrollton. A Celebration of Life Service was held Monday evening, Sept. 17 at Carrollton Christian Church with the Rev. Melvin LeCompte officiating. Tandy-Eckler-Riley, 809 Highland Ave. was entrusted with the arrangements.

    CARROLLTON, Ky.—Elmer Gaines Anderson, 80, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Carrollton.

    A private graveside service was held Monday, Sept. 17 at the English Cemetery in Carrollton.   • Victoria Rae Fornash Loechle, 71

    NEW CASTLE, Ky.—Victoria Rae Fornash Loechle, 71, of New Castle died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Baptist Northeast Hospital in La Grange, Ky.  Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 503 Fifth St. in Carrollton, with the Rev. Father Kavungal Davy officiating. Interment will be in the New Castle Cemetery.

  • Lillie Marie Taylor Harsin, 86

    MILTON, Ky. – Lillie Marie Taylor Harsin, 86, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, after an extended illness.

    Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, 215 Fifth St., Carrollton, with the Rev. Tom Stark officiating. Visitation is 11 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Harsin was born Oct. 31, 1925, to the late William Henry and Noba Garrett Taylor. She was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a farmer.

  • Coleman Mayfield Sibley, 92

    BEDFORD, Ky. – Coleman Mayfield Sibley, 92, of Bedford died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Ky.  Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 1, at Bedford Baptist Church in Bedford, with the Revs. Drew Oakley and Andy Murry officiating. Burial was in the Bedford Cemetery.

    Ransdell Funeral Home, 441 U.S. 42, Bedford, was entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include a son, Tom (Mary Jane) Sibley, and a daughter, Gwen (John) Higgins, all of Bedford; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

  • Joseph D. Taylor, 79

    CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Joseph D. “Joe” Taylor, 79, of Campbellsburg died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, Ky.  

    Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 11,  at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Interment was in Port Royal Cemetery.

    Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Abner “Boots” and Goldine Tingle Taylor. He worked as operations department supervisor at Kentucky Utilities Generating Plant in Ghent.

    CARROLLTON, Ky. – Mary K. Lindsay, 85, of Carrollton, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Jefferson Place in Louisville, Ky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at noon Friday, Sept. 14, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carrollton, with the Rev. Kavungal Davy officiating.
