  • Janie Smith, 67

    MILTON, Ky. – Janie Smith, 67, of Milton died, Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, with the Rev. Jason Owenby officiating. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the English Cemetery near English, Ky.

    Survivors include a daughter, T. June Elwood, and a son, Glenn E. Elwood, both of Carrollton.

  • John Alfred Day, 85

    MILTON, Ky.— John Alfred Day, 85, of Milton died Thursday,  Aug.16, 2012, at his residence.

    Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave, in Carrollton, with the Revs. Jim Stewart and David Croucher officiating. Burial was in the English Cemetery near English, Ky.

    Mr. Day was born May 30, 1927, in Carrollton to the late Emmett and Mamie Skirvin Day. He was retired from Ohio Valley Asphalt (OVA). He was a member of the Army National Guard.

  • William Harold Clifton, 85

    PLEASUREVILLE, Ky. – William Harold Clifton, 85, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton.

    Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25,  at the Family Worship Center. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

    Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Clifton was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Pleasureville and moved to Carroll County in 1943.

    CARROLLTON, Ky.—Timothy Carl Harlow, 56, of Carrollton died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at his residence.

    Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at The Pentecostals of Carrollton Church, with the Rev. Ron Tiller officiating. Visitation is 5–8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16,  at the church. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

    CARROLLTON, Ky.—Mary Willoughby Wright, 85, of Carrollton died Sunday, Aug, 12, 2012, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

    Funeral services are Thursday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. at the English Christian Church in English, Ky., with the Revs. Keith Miller and Donny Kauffman officiating. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., in Carrollton, and 10 a.m. Thursday until the service at the church. Burial will be in the English Cemetery.

  • Joann Walker, 66

    WORTHVILLE, Ky.—Joann Walker, 66, of Worthville died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Signature Healthcare of Trimble County in Bedford.

    McDonald and New Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Wheatley Cemetery with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating,

    Survivors include her husband, James Walker; a daughter, Donna Sue Winnies of Ghent; and three grandchildren.

    Her parents, Lawrence and Virginia Roberts Agrue, preceded her in death.

  • Lura Lee Willhoite, 87

    Carrollton, Ky. — Lura Lee Willhoite, 87, of Carrollton died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton, with the Rev. Pat Butcher officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton. Tandy-Eckler-Riely was in charge of arrangements.

    Her parents, Virgil Lee and Mable Cynthia Wheeler Willhoite preceded her in death.

  • James Chester McGuire, 88

    WORTHVILLE, Ky.—James Chester McGuire, 88, of Worthville died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at his residence.

    Funeral services are 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, 213 Fifth St., Carrollton. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, Ky.

    Mr. McGuire was the son of the late Alexander and Nannie Rodgers McGuire. He was the husband of the late Louise Brown McGuire.

    Mr. McGuire spent most of his life in Carroll County working as a farmer and also at factory work.

  • James Madison ‘Matt’ Elmore, 87

    NEW LIBERTY, Ky. — James Madison “Matt” Elmore,  87, of New Liberty died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at the New Horizons Medical Center.

    McDonald and New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Seminary Street funeral home. Services will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Jim Woods officiating. Burial will be in the New Liberty Cemetery.

    He is survived by his  wife, Helen Louise Mylor Elmore of New Liberty.
