• County school district offers summer feeding program

    Carroll County School Nutrition Department is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

  • Napier graduates from McKendree University

    Allison Napier is a McKendree University Class of 2014 graduate with a MBA degree in business administration. The university held its 174th commencement exercises on May 10, at the Lebanon, Ill. campus. Graduates at the Louisville and Radcliff, Kentucky campuses will receive their diplomas on June 7.

    Napier works for Three Rivers District Health Department.

  • Cartmell students to learn benefits of joining band

    Fifth-grade students from Cartmell Elementary will visit Carroll County Middle School May 28, for a band information session. The goal is to give the Cartmell students as much information as they need to decide whether they want to join the band next school year. Band begins in sixth grade in the Carroll County School District, so parents are encouraged to get their students involved from the beginning.

    Dee Adams of Carrollton graduated from Ohio Christian University with an Associate of Arts in biblical studies.

    Thursday, May 22: Lasagna, breadsticks, broccoli, veggies, grapes or Mandarin oranges; breakfast: Sausage biscuit.

    Friday, May 23: Fish on bun, Mac and cheese, kale, pinto beans, apple or fruit cocktail; breakfast: Donuts.

  • Retired teachers award annual scholarship

    Carroll County Retired Teachers Association met on May 16 at Two Rivers Restaurant with 11 members present.

    President Cassandra McBurney opened the meeting with discussion on the scholarship the association gives. Becky Woods explained to the group the process that was used in the selection of Tre Burgin as their scholarship recipient. The scholarship was made possible because of the record number of members who paid their dues and the generous donations of some members. The retired teachers agreed that they wish Burgin well in his studies.
