  • Dow Corning employees bring real life perspective to math

    Dow Corning is changing the way that students learn mathematics at Carroll County Middle School. Twelve Dow Corning employees are volunteering one hour each week to tutor seventh graders in mathematics during the school day.

    “We are excited to have Dow Corning volunteers,” CCMS math teacher Laura Willhoite said. “It’s great to have professionals willing to come in and help the students. We have engineers, business administrators and others willing to take time out of their busy schedules to help, and we are extremely grateful for that.”

    Thursday, Dec. 19: Sliced turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, roll, cranberry sauce and fruit salad; breakfast: Sausage biscuit.

    Friday, Dec. 20: BBQ, bun, smiley fries, kale, baked apples and orange; breakfast: Donuts.

    Monday Dec. 23-31: closed for the holidays!

  • All Pro Dads make a difference in child’s education

    Fathers and father figures are making a difference at Cartmell Elementary School through the All Pro Dad’s Day Breakfast. The breakfast is held once each month in the Cartmell library from 7:15-7:45 a.m. The program gives fathers another outlet through which they can participate in their children’s education.

  • CCHS band presents winter concert

    The Carroll County High School Band will be performing their annual winter concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the high school gymnasium. The concert will include performances by the high school concert band, jazz band, steel band and percussion ensemble. Selections will include “The Grinch that Stole Christmas” as well as a medley of holiday favorites.

    The jazz band will play music by Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. The steel band will warm you up with more traditional songs from the islands.

  • Rauck accepted to Ashland University

    Shelby Rauck of Carrollton, Ky., has been accepted to Ashland University for the  2014 fall semester.

    Rauck, a senior at Carroll County High School, will receive the Provost’s Scholarship for $8,000 annually to attend the university.

    This menu is for Cartmell Elementary, there is a change for Carroll County Middle School’s menu, this week, the change is underlined and in parenthesis for Dec. 16.

     

    Thursday, Dec. 12: Taco with tortilla, (or chicken fajita), lettuce, tomato, cheese, salsa, refried beans, orange and applesauce; breakfast: Sausage biscuit and gravy.

    Friday, Dec. 13: Hamburger/cheeseburger, bun, lettuce, tomato, pickle and French Fries, apple and diced pears; breakfast: Donuts.
