  • Stepping up their game

    Three Carroll County High School seniors will continue their athletic careers in college. Zakk Hicks, Kelly Layton and Lauren Moore were honored at an athletic signing day ceremony May 1. Hicks will play baseball at Indiana University Southeast; Layton will play volleyball at Georgetown College and Moore will play basketball at Centre College.

  • Exploring the zoo

     

    Kathryn Winn Primary’s entire student body, more than 200 parents and Winn staff took a field trip to the Louisville Zoo April 24.

  • Changing expectations: all students to complete all of the assignments

    A father asks his son to mow the yard. Days pass, the grass grows, and the yard has not been mowed. The father says, “Son, since you didn’t mow the yard when I asked you to, you don’t get to mow the yard. I’m not going to let you mow the yard in order to teach you responsibility.”

    This menu is for Kathryn Winn Primary and Cartmell Elementary Schools,  changes for Carroll County High School and Middle School will be italicized.

    Thursday, April 30: Breakfast: chicken biscuit; lunch: Rotini with meat sauce, breadstick, tossed salad, California blend veggies, grapes or applesauce.

    Friday, May 1:  Breakfast: cinnamon rolls; lunch:  chicken patty with bun, lettuce tomato pickle, steamed peas, baked beans, orange wedges or diced peaches. Carroll County High School and middle school will offer: chicken filet with bun.

  • Damron honored

    Haley Damron, a 2011 graduate of Carroll County High School and senior at University of the Cumberlands, was honored by UC as one of several outstanding students during its annual Honors Day program. She was selected as a member of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for 2014-2015. 

  • Carroll County High School athletics fundraiser

    Earl Floyd Ford presents the “Drive 4 UR School” event from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Carroll County High School. Test drive a brand new Ford vehicle and Earl Floyd will make a donation to the school’s sports teams for each test drive taken. Free hot dogs and drinks will be available, as well as inflatables for children.

  • Governor’s Scholars

    Carroll County High School junior Elliann Yocum and Christian Academy of Carrollton junior Matthew Newcomer have been selected for the 2015 Governor’s Scholars Program. GSP is a summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors.

  • iLead moves forward, 2015-2016 calendar announced

    Carroll County Schools has received 10 applications for its six spots in the new iLead Academy, Carroll County Superintendent Bill Hogan reported to the Board of Education at its meeting April 23. iLead Academy is the state’s first regional career academy emphasizing instruction in science, technology, engineering and math.
