  • Carroll County Schools to provide free meals over the summer

    The Carroll County School Nutrition Department is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:

     

  • CCMS students build three new libraries to promote literacy

    With three new libraries having been built in recent weeks, the library business is booming in Carroll County.

    The libraries can be found at the following locations:

    500 block of Main St. (outside of Welch’s Restaurant)

    1200 block of Highland Ave. (outside of The Cutting Edge)

    2551 U.S. Hwy. 227 (outside of Fillin the Blank)

    Constructing three Little Free Libraries is yet another successful project from Will Yager’s Project-Based Learning class at Carroll County Middle School.

  • Lil’ graduates

    Christian Academy of Carrollton held its K5 graduation ceremony May 6, in the gymnasium. The K4 class also was on hand to show what they had learned.

  • Students spread love for books

    Students in Will Yager’s eighth-grade class at Carroll County Middle School recently completed a project in which they designed what are known as “Little Free Libraries.”  Three “Little Free Libraries” were designed and have been placed around the community: Outside of Welch’s Restaurant downtown, outside of The Cutting Edge and outside of Fillin’ the Blank.

    “My favorite thing about school is learning new things because it will help me when I’m older.”

    “My favorite subject is Language Arts because I get to read and I love reading.”

    “Demigods and Magicians: Percy and Annabeth meet the Kanes.”

    What was the last movie you saw?  

    “The 5th Wave.”

    This menu is for Kathryn Winn Primary and Cartmell Elementary Schools, changes for Carroll County High School and Middle School will be italicized.

     

    Thursday, May 19: Sausage biscuit or mini cinnis and apple; lunch: Soft taco, lettuce/tomato, cheese/salsa/sour cream, refried beans, Mexican rice, grapes or pineapple tidbits. Carroll County Middle and High School will offer Sausage cheese bagel for breakfast and taco or chicken fajita for lunch.

  • Assessment is a part of accountability

    “Given that education is and should be all about our students, we should have an accountability system that reflects that,” Kentucky Commissioner of Education Stephen Pruitt wrote in a recent blog post.
