  • Crane on Dean's List

    Andrew E. Crane, a sophomore from Union, Ky., was named to the Virginia Military Institute’s Dean’s List for the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, 
a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C. Crane is majoring in psychology and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David B. Crane.

    Thursday, Feb. 19: Breakfast: chicken biscuit; lunch: hot dog with bun, chili sauce, cheese, potato rounds, grapes or diced pears. Carroll County High School and middle school will offer: Philly cheese or Buffalo chicken with bun, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, green peppers, baked beans and fries.

  • Tenth-annual Seuss birthday bash celebrates literacy, learning

    What do stories about beetles battling with paddles, a rhyming fox and multi-colored fish have in common? Dr. Seuss, of course! On Feb. 28, the Carroll County Early Childhood Council (CCECC) is hosting the tenth-annual Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash at Kathryn Winn Primary School from 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The annual Seuss-centered event celebrates the birth of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.

    Lewis graduates

    Emily R. Lewis of Carrollton graduated December 2014 fall semester, from Western Kentucky University, with a Bachelor of Science degree.

    Curry on Dean’s List

    Kyndal Christerson Curry of Carrollton, Ky., made the Dean’s List for Georgetown College’s fall 2014 semester. To qualify, a student must have completed the semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.7 GPA.

  • Students peer back in history for Winn-Winn occasion

    Kathryn Winn Primary students used their 100th day of class on Jan. 29 to celebrate the life of the school’s eponym, Miss Kathryn Winn, who taught for five decades as a first-grade teacher at what was then called the 9th Street School.

    Family Ties resource center coordinator Cydney Conley said that a visitor asked the students about the school’s name during a leadership day event last fall.

  • KDA Mobile Science Activity Center visits Cartmell

    The Carroll County Conservation District sponsored the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Mobile Science Activity Center for Cartmell’s science classes. Students participate in three days of hands-on science activities.

     Carroll County High School hosted its annual academic pep rally Friday, Jan. 30, highlighted by the CCHS faculty dressing and dancing in 80s style.
