  • Tots tackle learning

     

    Carroll County Panther Tots hosted an event Nov. 7, in the high school parking lot and encouraged the children to dress as their favorite super heroes. Children enjoyed a variety of learning activities, including on the STEM bus, and the Carrollton Police Department and Carrollton Fire Department also were on hand.

    Thursday, Nov. 14: Taco on tortilla, lettuce, tomato, cheese salsa, refried beans, orange and applesauce; breakfast: Sausage biscuit.

    Friday, Nov. 15: Hamburger cheeseburger, bun, lettuce, tomato, pickle, French fries, Apple and diced pears; breakfast: mini French toast sticks.

     Monday, Nov. 18: Chicken nuggets, rice pilaf, glazed carrots, steamed broccoli, apple and Mandarin oranges; breakfast: bacon, egg and cheese biscuit.

  • Schools to collect food, compete in Scouting for Food

    In conjunction with Scouting for Food, the Carroll County School District will hold its annual canned food drive Nov. 18 through Nov. 22.  All items go to the Carroll County Ministerial Association’s food pantry, located at St. John’s Catholic Church, and count as part of the Scouting for Food initiative. 

  • Scouting for Food begins Saturday to fill shelves in local food pantry

    Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts from Troop 418, Girl Scouts, Brownies and high school volunteers will hit the streets of the community as the 27th annual Scouting for Food project beginns Saturday, Nov. 16.

    Scouts will provide each home with a front door notice reminding them that they will return at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23 seeking donations of non-perishable food for the Community Food Pantry, which is housed at St. John’s Church basement and at the Carroll County Crisis Center.

    “I like the Lighthouse after school because I get to go to Compass and just have more time.”

    “My favorite thing is math because I get to learn facts and multiplication. I learn more in math because I understand it more.”

    Friday, Nov. 8: Sloppy Joes, roll, potato wedges, kale, orange, and applesauce; breakfast: Donuts.

    Monday, Nov. 11: Chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, orange and fruit cocktail; breakfast: Breakfast pizza.

    Tuesday, Nov. 12: Spaghetti with meat sauce, garden salad, blend veggies, banana and sliced peaches; breakfast: Pancake on a stick.
