A new fad called “Skittling” and a video game based around shooting fellow students are two items Champions for a Drug Free Carroll County warned educators could be heading into the community.

At Thursday night’s Carroll County Board of Education meeting, Champions coordinator Matt Lipe said he learned about these two potential dangers for children during a training session he attended recently in Richmond.

What is your favorite thing about school?
“Lunch because I like to eat.”

Who is your favorite teacher and why? 
“Mrs. Froman because after we finish our work in that class she lets us talk usually.

What was the last book you read? 
“‘Gym Candy”

What was the last movie you saw? 
“‘Green Lantern”

Billy and Angi Walker thought their educational opportunity had passed them by when they dropped out of high school to marry and raise their young daughter.
However, nearly two decades after leaving school, as their daughter, Patricia, is finishing high school, the Carrollton couple are active on the Jefferson Com-munity  and Technical Carrollton Campus. 

In May, they each will don a cap and gown and collect their diplomas as college graduates. And other family members are following in their footprints.
