  • Chandler, Hartman accepted to to attend Union College in fall

    Leah Chandler of Ghent and Alyssa Hartman of Carrollton have both been accepted to attend Union College in the fall semester of 2012.

    Located in Barbourville, Ky., Union College offers an education experience where students receive personal attention to help make their educational experience successful. At Union, the average professor-to-student ratio is 14:1, so students can expect small class sizes and close interactions with instructors. Union is a four-year liberal arts school related to the United Methodist Church.

  • CCHS students grace the stage in “Camelot” March 9, 10

    Theater is alive and well at Carroll County High School. The theater department’s latest production will be the musical “Camelot.” The Lerner and Loewe play depicts the tale of King Arthur and the fictitious land of Camelot. The director for the local production is Jennifer Beach, and the choreographer is Cindy Hedges.

    Assorted milk flavors are offered daily, menu is subject to change due to availability of food, breakfast is offered daily, milk, juice, fruit, toast, cereal, pastries and yogurt.
    Papa John’s will be at the high school Feb. 28.

    Wednesday, Feb. 22, Chicken fingers, roasted potatoes, green beans, applesauce hot roll and milk; breakfast, pancakes and bacon.
    Thursday, Feb. 23, Chicken noodle or tomato soup, hot dog, bun, mixed vegetables with ranch, fruit and milk; breakfast, chicken star on a biscuit.

  • Vocational school to hold welding classes

    Kentucky Tech Carroll County Area and Vocational School is offering night classes for welding.

    Cost is $450 and depending on the interests of the applicants this class will focus on ARC (S.M.A.W.) and/or MIG (G.M.A.W.) Welding. The fee includes welding rods, gases, metals and other small shop tools.

    Class meets on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 4-9 p.m. Classes run from Feb. 27 through March 21. Registration for night class will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, from 3:30-6 p.m. at the Carroll County Vocational School.

  • Seventh annual Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash set for Feb. 25

    The Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash returns to Kathryn Winn Primary for the seventh annual community literacy fair.

    The event will be held in the school gymnasium, cafeteria, and library/media center from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. The school offers plenty of space for children and families to participate in various literacy-based activities. The event, which involves over 20 community groups, celebrates the birthday of beloved children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, who was born 108 years ago on March 2.
