  • Coaches vs. Cancer, Homecoming Feb. 8

    The Carroll County High School basketball teams will honor local cancer survivors through the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game Friday, Feb. 8. The crowning of the 2013 Carroll County High School Homecoming king and queen also will occur.

    The school will host a varsity doubleheader against Williamstown, with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys following. A portion of the entrance fee will benefit the Carroll County Relay for Life.

  • Reading 20 minutes a night is a great family investment

    In January, people often resolve to improve their lives by getting in shape, saving money or going back to school.

    Many people set goals to help their children do better in school. The Carroll County School District would like to suggest that a great resolution for anytime is to pledge 20 minutes every night to reading. Turn off the screens, sit down with your children and read together.

  • CCTC scholarship helps Yates land position

    Graduating seniors from local high schools have until March 14 to apply for a scholarship offered by the Carroll County Training Consortium.

    The full-tuition scholarships, funded by grants and donations from local businesses and industry, are offered to traditional and nontraditional students wanting to pursue high-demand degrees at the Jefferson Community and Technical College – Carrollton Campus.

  • It’s time to apply now for fall financial aid

    It’s not too early to begin preparing for the fall semester. If applying for financial aid, the priority deadline for college financial aid is fast approaching, and students needing aid for the fall 2013 or spring 2014 semesters should begin the application process now.

    The first step is to complete the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  At Jefferson Community and Technical College, the FAFSA begins the process for determining all forms of federal, state and local financial aid. The priority deadline to submit the FAFSA is March 15.

    Friday, Feb. 1: Pork roast, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese, roll, orange, applesauce, and milk; breakfast: breakfast, breakfast pizza.
