  • Movin’ Up

      The moving-up ceremony for the CCMS eighth graders took place at 6:30 on May 23 in the middle school gym. 

  • Students earn academic honors

     Six Carrollton Campus students earned Jefferson Community and Technical College’s highest academic honor when they were inducted recently into the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society for two-year colleges.

    They were among eight students receiving special honors this month.

    Juliann Adams, Lisa Arvin, Felicia Carter, Deborah Geisler, Amber Lafferty and Bessie Mumphrey were invited to join Phi Theta Kappa after meeting or exceeding the minimum requirements, a 3.5 GPA and 12 hours of college credits.

  • Gourds earn honors at Kentucky festival

     Carroll County Middle School brought home honors during the 2012 Kentucky Gourd Festival.

    CCMS received a trophy and a first place ribbon from the festival.

    Results

    First Place: Autumn Martinez, Natalie Bennett, Kelsey Wallace, Chase Willis, Taylor Drake-Thayer, Lauren Toombs and Katelyn Boren

    Second Place: Brandin McGuire, Shaylan Saulsberry, Taylor Hayden, Dillon Skirvin, Jenah Roberts, Deidra Proctor and Ana Garcia

  • Tentative budget for 2012-13 approved by Board of Education

    Chief Financial Officer Jon Conrad presented a tentative budget overview for the 2012-13 school year to the Carroll County Board of Education Thursday.

    The budget totals $23,194,130. The deadline to submit the working budget to the state is Sept. 30.

  • Carroll County High School Spring Choral Concert

     The Carroll County High School Chorus presented the Spring Choral Concert on Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at Cartmell Elementary School.

    The program included the songs “I Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum, “Fire and Rain,” by James Taylor, “An American Tribute,” “Africa”, by Toto, and “For Good”, from Wicked.

    The choir consists of 14 members this year. Choir director Mary Ellis Coombs said that the choir members “like what they’re doing, and are proud to be a part of the choir”.
