  • County schools participate in P20 Learning Lab project

     Representatives from the Carroll County School District attended a Feb. 8 news conference in Frankfort where -University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto announced that the National Center for Innovation in Education is being established at the UK College of Education. 

    The center has funding from two of the country’s leading foundations — the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

  • McClellen named to dean’s list

    The University of Northwestern Ohio has named Cameron McClellen of Carrollton to the dean’s list for the November 2012 session in the College of Applied Technologies.

    McClellen is majoring in Diesel Technology and Agriculture.

    He is the son of April McClellen and grandson of Donna Yocum and the late C.E. “Cookie” Yocum.

  • Carroll County Schools participate in Digital Learning Day

    Students and teachers in Carroll County Schools participated in the second annual Digital Learning Day on Feb. 6. The event “shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective use of technology in classrooms across the country,” (www.digitallearningday.org). During the day, a variety of technology tools and techniques were used to enhance student learning.

    Wednesday, Feb. 13: Ham, turkey, cheese on a bun, lettuce, tomato, pickle, chilled broccoli and carrots, spicy fries, apple, pears and milk; breakfast: oatmeal, cinnamon toast.

    Thursday, Feb. 14: BBQ on bun, potato wedges, kale, orange, baked apples and milk; breakfast: biscuits and gravy.

  • Shelby Energy to award scholarships

    Shelby Energy Cooperative is offering six $1,000 scholarships, in a program designed to enhance the education and resulting careers of high school seniors.

    Two scholarships per district served by Shelby Energy will be awarded.

  • Three named to dean’s list at Georgetown

    These Carroll County students made the Dean’s List for fall 2012 at Georgetown College.

    Those named to the Dean’s List are Cody Arthur Boles, Carrollton; Jensen Wainscott, Worthville; and William Carroll Yager, Carrollton.

    The dean’s list honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.7 grade average, according to Rosemary Allen, Ph.D., Georgetown College’s provost and academic dean.
