  • Fall Homecoming festivities kick off next week

    Fall Homecoming is here, and the festivities kick off next week. A combination of sports and homecoming traditions cover every day of the week, starting Sept. 12.

    “Homecoming is about the whole week and the whole school district,” said coordinator Mollie Shirley, who teaches at Carroll County High School. “The week is packed with sporting events, a parade, the powderpuff football tournament, the bonfire and a new tradition: a tug of war tournament.”

    On Monday, Sept. 12, the boys varsity golf team will play at Gallatin County at 6 p.m.

    Carroll County High School FCA is hosting a clothing drive. Any type or size of clothing will be donated to those in need. Drop off donations at the CCHS front office.   • Bus drivers make the difference

    A school district cannot function without bus drivers. The best teachers, the best curriculum and the best facilities are all pointless without students, and in the Carroll County School District, about 1,000 students arrive at their school each day on one of the district’s buses. Unfortunately, like many school districts across the state, Carroll is facing a bus driver shortage.
