  • Get prepared for back to school with Ready Fair

    The Family Ties Resource Center will be sponsoring the annual Ready Fair from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Kathryn Winn Primary.

    There will be lots of information and free items available to families to help make sure the school year gets off to a great start. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet the principals and administrators. Kathryn Winn and Head Start teachers will be in their classrooms to greet their new students. Cartmell teachers will also be in their classrooms at Cartmell during that time to greet their students.

  • Work remains to finish gym project at CCMH

    A total of 163 items remain on the Carroll County Middle School construction project’s punch list, down from the more than 800 items on the original four lists that cover architectural, site, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, and addendum — items discovered as other work was being done.

  • Winn courtyard project gets a boost from KU Ghent plant

    Fifteen representatives from the Kentucky Utilities Ghent power generating plant worked to remove a tree and satellite dish, repair a storage shed and prepare ground for laying pavers in the Kathryn Winn Primary courtyard. They were joined later in the day by Lowe’s Madison store employees to continue work as part of the $5,000 grant the school received from Lowes.

    Eastern Kentucky University named sophomore Allison Glenn Fornash, majoring in psychology, and senior Anthony Russel Whitaker, majoring in occupational safety, to the 2016 President’s Award List.

    Senior Steven Nicholas Abbott, majoring in police studies, Fornash and Whitaker were named to the Dean’s Award list.

    Abbott, Fornash, freshman Amanda Danielle Lambert, majoring in pre-ASL and Eng. interpretation, Whitaker and junior Jacob Allen Wise, majoring in occupational safety, were listed on the 2016 Deans List.
