  • McEndre, Martin win Good Citizen awards

    Hannah McEndre, daughter of James and Patricia McEndre, student of Carroll County High School and Austin Martin, son of Kelley and Pamela Martin, student of Christian Academy of Carrollton were both elected to receive the Good Citizen award at the April 7 meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

    Carroll County High School will offer sports physicals from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. May 12. The cost is $5, and forms are available in the front office.

    This menu is for Kathryn Winn Primary School and  Cartmell Elementary School. Carroll County High School and Carroll County Middle School are the same except for where noted.


    Thursday, May 1: Spaghetti with meat sauce, California blend, peas, grapes or peaches; breakfast: Chicken biscuit. Carroll County High School and Carroll County Middle School will offer Taco on tortilla, burrito, lettuce/tomato/cheese/salsa, refried beans.

  • Underwood, Gillespie named to governor’s scholars program

    Carroll County High School students Logan Underwood and Kathryn Gillespie have been named as school representatives to the 2014 Kentucky Gover-nor’s Scholars Program.

    “Being selected for the Gover-nor’s Scholars Program is a big honor,” Carroll County High School Principal Tom Stephens said. “It’s great for our students to be able to interact with other top students in the state.”

  • Public school off Memorial Day, last day now June 2

    The last day of school for Carroll County students will be June 2; June 10 will be the last day for staff.

    Carroll County Board of Education voted Thursday on calendar recommendations made by Director of Pupil Personnel Larry Currell, which included leaving Memorial Day as a holiday. Graduation will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, as previously scheduled.

    The board also OK’d Curell’s recommendations for the 2014-15 academic calendar, setting the first day of school for Aug. 12, about a week later than in recent years. Teachers report on Aug. 11.
