  • Winn courtyard project gets a boost from KU Ghent plant

    Fifteen representatives from the Kentucky Utilities Ghent power generating plant worked to remove a tree and satellite dish, repair a storage shed and prepare ground for laying pavers in the Kathryn Winn Primary courtyard. They were joined later in the day by Lowe’s Madison store employees to continue work as part of the $5,000 grant the school received from Lowes.

  • Eastern Kentucky University Dean's List | July 7, 2016

    Eastern Kentucky University named sophomore Allison Glenn Fornash, majoring in psychology, and senior Anthony Russel Whitaker, majoring in occupational safety, to the 2016 President’s Award List.

    Senior Steven Nicholas Abbott, majoring in police studies, Fornash and Whitaker were named to the Dean’s Award list.

    Abbott, Fornash, freshman Amanda Danielle Lambert, majoring in pre-ASL and Eng. interpretation, Whitaker and junior Jacob Allen Wise, majoring in occupational safety, were listed on the 2016 Deans List.

  • Carrollton campus students recognized

    Mark Hartless, a Jefferson Community and Technical College graduate, was recognized at JCTC’s annual awards ceremony held on Wednesday, April 21 at the Downtown Louisville Campus. Hartless was recognized as a President’s Scholar for his 4.0 during his time at JCTC, KCTCS All-Academic Team, Outstanding Carrollton Campus student, and Outstanding Engineering student.

  • Board to withhold last payment on gym project

    The lack of a finished product on the Carroll County Middle School gym and renovation was the basis of most of the conversation at the Carroll County Board of Education meeting June 16.

    The construction project is still incomplete as the bench capstones in both courtyards have not been installed.

    Carroll County School Superintendent Bill Hogan said that the stones were supposed to be installed in April, then May and now June. The stones have not been delivered.

  • Lawmakers see the success of iLead at joint meeting

    With year one in the books, iLead Academy proudly opened its doors June 13, to 22 members of Kentucky’s Interim Joint Committee on Education. As the state’s first regional career academy, iLead is a model that could be replicated throughout the state, as legislators look to take a more personalized approach to how students are educated.

  • Degrees Conferred | June 16, 2016

    Local students earn degrees from University of the Cumberlands

    University of the Cumberlands conferred 745 degrees during its annual commencement ceremony May 7. There were 200 bachelor’s degrees, 487 master’s degrees and 14 doctorate degrees. The degrees conferred also included three associate’s degrees and 41 education specialists.

  • Kathryn Winn Primary important dates, events

    In July, Kathryn Winn Primary will be hosting three important events: open enrollment for incoming kindergarteners and new students, student registration and open house.

    Kindergarten and new student open enrollment will be held on July 27, from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. at KWP. Parents who enrolled kindergarten children this past March do not need to attend.
