    Thursday, May 1: Spaghetti with meat sauce, California blend, peas, grapes or peaches; breakfast: Chicken biscuit. Carroll County High School and Carroll County Middle School will offer Taco on tortilla, burrito, lettuce/tomato/cheese/salsa, refried beans.

  • Underwood, Gillespie named to governor’s scholars program

    Carroll County High School students Logan Underwood and Kathryn Gillespie have been named as school representatives to the 2014 Kentucky Gover-nor’s Scholars Program.

    “Being selected for the Gover-nor’s Scholars Program is a big honor,” Carroll County High School Principal Tom Stephens said. “It’s great for our students to be able to interact with other top students in the state.”

  • Public school off Memorial Day, last day now June 2

    The last day of school for Carroll County students will be June 2; June 10 will be the last day for staff.

    Carroll County Board of Education voted Thursday on calendar recommendations made by Director of Pupil Personnel Larry Currell, which included leaving Memorial Day as a holiday. Graduation will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, as previously scheduled.

    The board also OK’d Curell’s recommendations for the 2014-15 academic calendar, setting the first day of school for Aug. 12, about a week later than in recent years. Teachers report on Aug. 11.

    Thursday, April 24: Lasagna, breadstick, broccoli, sunshine blend, grapes and Mandarin oranges; breakfast: Sausage biscuit.

    Friday, April 25: Seafood basket, Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, pinto beans, apple and Fruit cocktail; breakfast: Donuts.

    Monday, April 28: Hot dog/ribeque with bun, potato wedges, baked beans, apple and pears; breakfast: Breakfast pizza.

  • Local Planning Committee Meeting | April 24, 2014

    The Carroll County Board of Education Local Planning Committee will meet on April 29, 2014 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Carroll County Middle School Media Center.

  • CCHS band spring concert April 27

    The Carroll County High School Band will perform their annual spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the high school gymnasium. The concert will include performances by the high school concert band, jazz band, steel band and percussion ensemble. Selections will include Chopin, Pachelbel and some Brazilian drumming. The Jazz band will play music of Chick Corea and Carlos Santana. The steel band will warm up the audience with more traditional songs from the islands.

    The doors will open at 1:30 p.m. The concert will start at 2 p.m. and is free to the public.

  • “Beach Time” theme of Cartmell Spring Artist Showcase

    The Cartmell Elementary School Spring Artist Showcase is May 12 at 6:30 p.m. This is the second of two artist showcases for the year. “Beach Time – Summer Fun!” is the theme for the event.

    “Students will be celebrating the approaching summer and gearing up for all the things that remind them of summer-time fun,” Cartmell music teacher Rachel Hodge said. Students will incorporate the summer theme into their performances.
