    Wednesday, Nov. 25-27: Thanksgiving break

    Monday, Nov. 30: Breakfast: Mini pancakes or cereal and toast and apple; lunch: Chicken Parmesan, garden salad, steamed broccoli, breadstick, applesauce or orange wedges. Carroll County Middle and High School will offer chicken Parmesan or Alfredo for lunch.

  • Some things never change

    Many of the best things in life are simple. Take Thanksgiving, for example. Lacking the costumes of Halloween and the parties of New Year’s, Thanksgiving requires only two ingredients: food and family. As a celebratory month, November does not need presents, egg hunts or fireworks. It is a simple thing.

    At just seven years old, LJ Hearn already understands what it means to volunteer and share with those who are less fortunate than him.

  • CCMS project progresses; Zapp presents annual audit

    “Work is progressing to complete the Carroll County Middle School addition and renovation project,” Carroll County Superintendent Bill Hogan said at the Nov. 19 Board of Education meeting.

    Hogan said the subfloor is complete, and the hardwood floor is going down in the gymnasium. Drywall work in the lobby is complete and painted. The recent rains have held up outside work. The concrete contractor has been on-site, but the mud has prevented them from working, he said.

  • Slinging potatoes and hedge apples!

    iLead Academy students were given 16 feet of lumber to construct a catapult of their own design. Students researched and designed machines that were catapults and slingshots. The machines were tested Nov. 6 and one slingshot launched a potato 117 feet. Students were allowed to take the machine home over the weekend. Academy director Larissa McKinney said several of the machines changed in design.

    Thursday, Nov. 19: Breakfast: Chicken biscuit or mini cinnis and apple; lunch: Pork bites, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots with roll, grapes or pineapple tidbits. Carroll County Middle and High School will offer country-fried steak with gravy instead of pork bites for lunch.

  • Carroll County teachers are All in for Algebra

    More than two dozen Carroll County School District teachers are busy becoming mathematics content experts, thanks to a $400,000 grant from the Kentucky Department of Education. The kickoff event was held on Nov. 3, while students were off for Election Day.

  • Hill shares military experiences with Cartmell students
  • Area students attend Guys Day Out

    The Northern Kentucky Area Development District–in collaboration with Jefferson Community and Technical College, the Kentucky Career Center and Brighton Center–hosted the second annual Guy’s Day Out event Nov. 6, at Carroll County High School. In attendance were 173 high school boys from Carroll, Henry, Owen and Trimble counties, as well as Christian Academy of Carrollton and iLead Academy.
