  • Carlton of Sanders, Ky., graduates from Campbellsville University

    “Through Christian education, lives are changed.”

    Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, told a record number of graduates in four ceremonies as 558 students received their degrees May 12-13.

    For the 2016-17 academic year, 760 students will have graduated, upon completion of all academic requirements.

    The number of graduates and actual number of commencement ceremonies are both record breaking.

  • Winn update; Head Start earns 5-star rating

    JRA Architects and Weir Construction made a presentation on the proposed roof replacement, HVAC update and classroom expansion at Kathryn Winn Primary School.

    A state BG-1 document was approved by the Department of Education the week of May 15, for the project. JRA received the Department of Education’s approval of the architect agreement on May 25.

    They will be presenting the agreement for board approval at the next meeting.

  • Richmond has worked toward valedictorian goal since CCMS

    Becoming valedictorian is not just showing up for class, nor is it not deciding to buckle down during senior year to try for good grades.

    The valedictorian for Carroll County High School’s class of 2017 Jenna Richmond said she began thinking about being valedictorian when she was in middle school when she attended a function at the high school with her older brother Jae.

    “This has been a goal through all of high school,” Richmond said. “It has been a battle between me, Jenah Roberts and Taylor Courtney all four years.”

  • Academic Honors Banquet

    Rotary Club of Carrollton hosted and sponsored the Carroll County High School Academic Honors Banquet May 3, at the high school.

  • Cartmell Artist Showcase
  • Picnic with the Pops

    Carroll County High School band and Carroll County Middle School seventh and eighth grade bands performed a joint concert called “Picnic with the Pops” May 13, in the high school gym. The bands raised money by selling tables in the middle of the gym floor and allowing audience members to enjoy their picnic lunch during the performances. Prizes were awarded to the best-decorated tables. See more pictures at www.mycarrollnews.com.

  • JCTC students inducted into Honors Society

    The Jefferson Community and Technical College Carrollton Campus recently inducted seven students into Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society of two-year colleges. This organization focuses on four main pillars of excellence: Scholarship, Leadership, Fellowship, and Service. Students receiving an invitation must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have completed at least 12 hours of college coursework.
