  • Carroll to participate in $40 Million Race to the Top program

    The Carroll County School District is among 22 Kentucky school districts and two regional educational cooperatives to share in a $40 million Race to the Top grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The consortium, led by the Green River Region Educational Cooper-ative and the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative, was one of only 16 grant recipients chosen from 372 submitted nationally to receive the award, which was announced on Dec. 11.

    Wednesday, Dec. 19: Tomato soup, grilled cheese, vegetable sticks with dip, peaches, banana and milk; breakfast: breakfast: sausage, biscuit and gravy.

    Thursday, Dec, 20: Meatloaf with mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, grapes and milk; breakfast: pancake on a stick.

    Friday, Dec 21: Corn dog(WG), French fries, broccoli with cheese, pineapple tidbits, apple and milk; breakfast: breakfast pizza.

  • Decisions made early in life guide career paths ahead

    Between the ages of 14 and 20, young men and women make critical decisions that affect the course of their whole lives – decisions about educational paths, career options, lifetime mates and family living.

    Although thinking about the future may not be something that eighth-graders usually do, it is important that they make these critical decisions with the knowledge and a sophisticated attitude about the realities and options for their future.

    The University of Northwestern Ohio announced that Cameron Stuart McClellen of Carrollton has made the Dean’s List for the October 2012 session in the College of Applied Technologies. Full-time students must receive a grade point average of 3.5 or better to be named to the Dean’s List. McClellen is majoring in Diesel Technology and Agriculture. He is the son of April S. McClellen and the grandson of the late C.E. Yocum and Donna Yocum.
