Thursday, Aug. 28, Breakfast: sausage biscuit; lunch: hamburger/cheeseburger, bun, lettuce/pickle/tomato, French fries, peas and carrots, strawberry cups or pears; Friday, Aug. 29, Breakfast: cinnamon rolls; lunch: lunch: pizza, garden salad, corn, orange wedges or fruit cocktail.

Average ACT scores for Carroll County’s high school seniors showed improvements in 2014, with reading at its highest composite score in more than five years.

Director of Academic Support Pam Williams shared the numbers with the Carroll County Board of Education at its meeting Thursday, Aug. 21.

All four categories — English, math, reading and science — and the overall composite score were above the results from testing in 2013. “We improved in all categories from the previous year,” Williams said.

Friday, Aug. 22, Breakfast: cinnamon rolls; lunch: chicken patty, bun, lettuce/tomato/pickle, peas, baked beans, orange or peaches.

While Kentucky public high school graduates are still behind those nationwide on the ACT college-entrance exam, the performance gap is narrowing, Kentucky Department of Education officials said.
