    Wednesday, Feb. 6: Hot dog, bun, sweet potato fries, chilled broccoli and carrots, orange, pineapple tidbits and milk; breakfast: scrambled eggs with bacon.

    Thursday, Feb. 7: Taco on tortilla, lettuce, tomato, cheese, salsa, refried beans, grapes, fruit cocktail and milk; breakfast: sausage biscuit.

    Friday, Feb. 8: Hamburger or cheeseburger, bun, lettuce, tomato, pickle, French fries, orange, applesauce  and milk; breakfast: donuts.

  • Shelby Energy to award scholarships

    Shelby Energy Cooperative is offering six $1,000 scholarships, in a program designed to enhance the education and resulting careers of high school seniors.

    Two scholarships per district served by Shelby Energy will be awarded.

  • Three named to dean’s list at Georgetown

    These Carroll County students made the Dean’s List for fall 2012 at Georgetown College.

    Those named to the Dean’s List are Cody Arthur Boles, Carrollton; Jensen Wainscott, Worthville; and William Carroll Yager, Carrollton.

    The dean’s list honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.7 grade average, according to Rosemary Allen, Ph.D., Georgetown College’s provost and academic dean.

  • Three to receive EKU dean’s award

    Three area students are among 505 that Eastern Kentucky University announced as Dean’s Award recipients for the Fall 2012 semester.

    Award recipients include: Jillian Leigh Butcher, Carrollton, a junior pre-RN Pre-Nursing major; Jacob Allen Blair, Bedford, a sophomore journalism major; Karen Denise Popp,  Bedford, a senior General Studies in arts and sciences major.

  • Coaches vs. Cancer, Homecoming Feb. 8

    The Carroll County High School basketball teams will honor local cancer survivors through the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game Friday, Feb. 8. The crowning of the 2013 Carroll County High School Homecoming king and queen also will occur.

    The school will host a varsity doubleheader against Williamstown, with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys following. A portion of the entrance fee will benefit the Carroll County Relay for Life.

  • Reading 20 minutes a night is a great family investment

    In January, people often resolve to improve their lives by getting in shape, saving money or going back to school.

    Many people set goals to help their children do better in school. The Carroll County School District would like to suggest that a great resolution for anytime is to pledge 20 minutes every night to reading. Turn off the screens, sit down with your children and read together.
