    Beggs gradutes from Wright State

    Kasey M. Beggs graduated from Wright State University Monday, May 27. She earned a bachelor’s degree in motion picture history, theory and criticism; minors in motion picture production and German. Beggs is the daughter of Karen K. Smith, of Henry County Ky. and the late Clyde Beggs, D.V.M.

  • Career Craze camp set for JCTC in June

    Jeffereson Community and Technical College Carrollton campus will hold the Career Craze summer camp from 8 a.m. to noon June 24-27.

    The free summer camp is designed to explore career opportunities that exist in the region for high-demand manufacturing technology fields of engineering and electronics technology and applied process technology. These courses are taught at the JCTC Carrollton campus.

  • Winn and Cartmell team up to offer ‘STEAM Camp’ for students in June

    Three weeks into summer, many students get bored with sitting on the couch, eating potato chips and watching television. The Champion STEAM Camp at Cartmell Elemen-tary School will offer an exciting alternative June 24-28.

    Camp organizers Gail Becraft and Jessica Breeden, who have hosted Camp Invention in the past, are providing an affordable summer camp for local children who have just completed kindergarten through fifth grade in the Carroll County School District.

  • Child development center rolls out ‘STEAM Bus’ this week

    The Carroll County Child Development Center is literally rolling out a new program as its new Mobile Education Bus hits the road this week.  Preschool teacher Carmen Mitchell and bus drivers Kim Horine, Kelly Warren, and Amy Saggus will begin visiting eight locations throughout Carroll County to engage preschool children and their parents in a variety of fun, hands-on learning activities.

    Two students named to UK dean’s list

    Two Carroll County students were named to the University of Kentucky Dean’s List for the Spring 2013 semester. Senior Devon Hill is majoring in chemical engineering and sophomore Kristen Thornsberry is majoring in nutrition, and food science-hospitality management and tourism. To make a dean’s list, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher with 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes.

  • JCTC honors Goff during graduation

    On May 16 Jefferson Community and Technical College awarded credentials to 1,631 graduates and honored Carrollton resident Dennis Goff for his role in  developing the JCTC Carrollton Campus, and his ongoing support for higher  education in the region.
