  • Support for Spinner

    The Kentucky Kruizers and Cooper’s Restaurant donated money to Carroll County Animal Support for Spinner, a blind and deaf Chihuahua puppy. He is being fostered by Leah and Savannah Hill. Savannah, 11, began raising money to take Spinner to a veterinary specialist in Louisville to determine if the puppy will ever regain his hearing and sight.

    Kruizers collected money for Spinner in a 50-50 raffle, and Cooper’s donated a percentage of their sales Saturday night to the cause, for a total of $331.

  • Arkema plant to be sold to PMC Group

    The French company that owns Carrollton’s Arkema plant is selling the operations here and at some other locations worldwide to PMC Group of Mount Laurel, N.J.

    Carrollton Plant Manager Annis Banks said they understand the change will appear more like a name change for the local operations. “Everything at Carrollton will stay the same,” she said.

    In a news release issued by Arkema, the company said it is divesting itself of all operations that have tin stabilizer businesses.

  • Meadows celebrate 50th anniversary

     Carole Griffin and Raymond Meadows exchanged vows on July 31, 1962. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Hardin.

    Mr. Meadows retired from Operating Engineers Local No. 181, and Mrs. Meadows retired from Belterra Casino Resort and Spa.

    The couple have three daughters, Cheryl Buchanan, Tonya ( Allen) Rassman, Kelly (Don) O’Brien; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

     Darrell and Alice Marsh of Carrollton, Ky. announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Brandi Elizabeth Marsh to Joshua Wayne McIntyre, of Carrollton, the son of Richard and Tami Carrico of Carrollton and Robert and Tammy McIntyre of Sanders, Ky.

  • On the ranch

     The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office took six boys to the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch in Gilbertsville, Ky. The boys will spent a week at the ranch enjoying a variety of activities. Pictured above are campers Brendan Webster, Jacob McCulley, Kalep Marksberry, Jessie Burgin, J.R. Barnes and James Riley. Carroll County Deputy Sheriff Daniel Rose, back row, center, along with Paul Nation transported the children to the camp.

  • Spencer, Perkins to wed Aug. 4

     George and Bonnie Spencer of Madison, Ind. and Clay and Tracy Yocum of Milton, Ky. announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Megan Spencer to Kyle Perkins of Carrollton, son of Denny and Candy Perkins and Greg Davis and Karen Day all of Carrollton.

    The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Carroll County High School and is currently a student.

    The groom-elect is a 2005 graduate of Carroll County High School and is employed by North American Stainless in Carrollton.

  • Stephens takes helm at CCHS

    The new principal at Carroll County High School may have a different title, but is really not new at all.
    Tom Stephens has served as vice principal for the school since 2002 and recently accepted the top position as principal.

    Prior to coming to Carroll County, he taught for seven years in Union County, Ky. He has lived in many different areas, including Texas, Georgia, Virginia and Washington D.C. He is originally from Virginia, although he graduated from high school in Greenup, Ky.
