  • Police investigate threats at high school

    Kentucky State Police and the Trimble County Sheriff’s Department were called to Trimble County High School Wednesday, Oct. 15 after a document was discovered that contained threats to the safety of students, staff and community members.

  • Court OKs funds for clock repair

    Repairs to the Courthouse clock tower and the Masterson House roof topped Tuesday’s regular Fiscal Court meeting.

    The clock tower on the courthouse was damaged when Hurricane Ike blew threw Carroll County on Sept. 14.

    “We have not spent very much money on that clock tower,” Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson said.

    The price for a new clock, all new parts and a new controller for all four clocks is $18,240. That price does not include the installation, Tomlinson said.

  • Health fair, poker run highlight weekend

    STAFF REPORT

    Carroll County residents will have something to do each day of the weekend, with Arkema’s Health and Safety Fair on Friday, the Project Comfort Blitz Day on Saturday (see story above),  and a poker run Sunday to raise money for the annual Shop with a Cop program.

     The Arkema health fair is set for noon to 6 p.m. in the big white barn near the plant on U.S. Hwy. 42 East.

  • State program gives students in-depth arts instruction

    Many young artists of Kentucky recently spent three weeks at Transylvania University in Lexington for the Governor's School for the Arts program. 

    Of the more than 1,500 high school juniors and seniors who auditioned for the program, only 241 were selected to attend. The program offers in-depth instruction in one of nine artistic disciplines: architecture, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theatre, new media, visual arts or vocal music.
