Kentucky deer hunters will have lots of ground venison for chili this winter, roasts to bake with onions, celery and vegetables, and back strap chops to grill during the summer.

That’s because a record deer harvest was posted for the 2012-13 deer season, which ended with the close of archery season Jan. 21.

Lexington– By 2018, fewer than 10 percent of Kentucky employers will accept job applicants who lack a high school diploma. This Georgetown University forecast from the study Help Wanted: Projections of Jobs and Education Requirements Through 2018 offers a clear warning to Kentucky policy makers, educators, employers, students, parents - anyone with a stake in the well-being of the commonwealth’s economy: education is essential to well-being.

The much-anticipated “slide” of a new, wider Milton-Madison Bridge is scheduled to take place this summer, marking near-completion of the bridge-replacement project.

While the event is currently expected to occur in mid-July, the schedule is dependent on weather and subject to change.

With the help of hydraulic jacks, the new 2,427-foot-long steel truss bridge – currently sitting on temporary piers – will move along sliding girder beams to its permanent home on top of the existing piers which are being rehabbed and reused.

Attorney General Jack Conway has joined a national effort by state and territorial attorneys general to urge Congress to extend tax relief for consumers who’ve had mortgage debt canceled or forgiven because of financial hardship or a decline in housing values.

 Attorney General Conway was one of 42 attorneys general to sign a letter to U.S. House and Senate leaders today, urging them to extend the exclusion, which has been in effect since 2007 and will otherwise expire on Dec. 31.
