A new campaign to encourage consumers to “Shop Downtown This Holiday Season” is being launched by the Kentucky Main Street Program (KYMS), as a means to drive retail sales to local businesses, keep money circulating in the local economy, and help cultivate the unique character that differentiates communities across the state.

Kentucky State Police Post 5 has recently increased its ranks by adding eight newly appointed troopers, including three who will be patrolling Carroll County. 

The troopers have all been assigned to the Campbellsburg post after completing the grueling 23-week training academy conducted at KSP headquarters in Frankfort.

Trooper Adam Garrett, a Lawrenceburg native, is a 2007 graduate of the University of the Cumberlands. Hisprimary assignment will be patrolling Carroll and Trimble counties upon completion of his field training. 

Candidates who intend to run on the 2012 primary or general ballot have begun filing their paperwork with Secretary of State Elaine Walker’s office in Frankfort. Qualified candidates will appear on the May 22 primary or the Nov. 6 general election ballot.

A bit of luck and some good, old-fashioned police work led to the arrest of the man who allegedly robbed Cook’s Pharmacy employees at gunpoint on Thursday, Nov. 3.

Detective Danny Stivers with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that Brandon L. French, 31, of Bagdad was arrested Friday night, Nov. 11, while being held at the Shelby County Detention Center.

Stivers said after the robbery, he had contacted Officer Rodney Kidd of the Simpsonville Police Department, which had been investigating a similar crime there.
