SPARTA, Ky. – Dynamic Bud Light country music entertainers LoCash Cowboys will amp up Kentucky Speedway’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NCSCS) “Quaker State 400” race day energy when they storm the Budweiser Stage for a free concert on the concourse at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 30.

SPARTA, Ky. – Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) and sponsor Aaron’s, Inc., will honor the 2011-12 University of Kentucky NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship during Kentucky Speedway’s June 28-30 Quaker State 400 tripleheader weekend by racing a special paint scheme on No. 55 “Dream Machine” driven by Kentuckian Michael Waltrip and placing the Wildcats’ National Championship trophy on display for fans throughout the weekend.

Mosquitoes are out for blood in Central Kentucky earlier and in mightier form this summer.

While some experts are predicting this summer to be one of the worst for mosquitoes in decades, Grayson Brown, professor of entomology at the University of Kentucky, said there’s no way of knowing until summer is in full swing. The life span of a mosquito is relatively short, a few months at most, but mosquitoes have been building up their numbers since March and will be noticeable in the upcoming months.

Kentucky has 43 different kinds of special districts collecting taxes or fees to provide a variety of public services that, while not quite running the gamut from A to Z, at least go from A to W — ambulance service to watershed conservancy, air pollution control to waste management.

Some of the more familiar types deal with water and sewer services, libraries, hospitals, mass transit, airports and riverports.
