    Carrollton Homemakers Club meets at 10:30 a.m. at the Carroll County Extension Office on Floyd Drive.

    Champions for a Drug Free Carroll County meets at 11:30 a.m., at the Carroll County Public Library.

    Carrollton Police Department and other agencies join for the annual Shop With A Cop program at 4:30 p.m. Children will be dropped off and picked up at the National Guard Armory.

    West Carroll Water District meets at 6 p.m. in the conference room at Carrollton Utilities, 225 Sixth St.

    In my spare time I work as a freelance writer for an online content company writing home improvement articles for several national businesses and also catalog copy for Sears’ and Kmart’s websites.

    So, for more than a year now I’ve been writing about roofing and rain gutters and HVAC systems and energy efficient windows and the pros and cons of heat pumps and solar heating.

  • U.S. 42 lift station sold

    Carrollton City Council Dec. 8, voted to authorize the mayor to execute a deed regarding the Celotex Lift Station, located on U.S. Hwy. 42. The property was declared a surplus and sold to the Commonwealth of Kentucky for $1. Mayor Gene McMurry said the state will remove the lift station, as well as the utility lines underneath, so that it can widen the road to three 12-foot lanes.

  • CAIP application deadline tomorrow (Dec. 19)

     The Carroll County Cooperative Extension Service will be closed for the holidays from December 25to January 2.  The office will be open on Monday, January 5.

    Applications are still available for the 2014 Carroll County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) at the Carroll County Conservation District Office, 1802 Highland Avenue, Carrollton.

     Boys Basketball

    Carroll County boys basketball came home from Owen County Dec. 11 with a 63-42 loss in a 31st district matchup.

    Owen jumped out to 21-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and added two more points to the lead 39-23 the half. Carroll played Owen to within five points in the second half.

  • Wins over Henry and Owen have Carroll 2-0 in district

    Carroll County Lady Panthers jumped out 5-0 on 31st District rival Henry County, holding the Lady Wildcats scoreless for the first five minutes of the game.

    Henry County’s Haley Miles put in two free throws for the only points of the quarter as Carroll led12-2.

    Carroll pounded the ball inside for the quarter as all its field goals were within 8 feet of the basket.
