  • Bevill wins Henry golf outing

    Lyndsey Bevill dominated the field over the weekend at the Henry County Country Club Championships.

    Bevill, a high school regional champion for Carroll County a few years back, held a six-stroke lead after the first day on Saturday, then stretched it to nine on Sunday for a 10-over-par 154. Paula McGlothin finished second at 163 and Samantha Woods was third at 166. Carolyn Adcock, who has won the club championship eight times dating back to 1999, finished tied for fifth at 170.

  • Lions add 5K to Tobacco Festival

    The Carrollton Lions Club has added a new event to the schedule of activities for this year’s Carroll County Tobacco Festival. The organization is sponsoring its first 5K run and walk on Saturday morning, September 26, on Lock Road, starting and ending at the back entrance to General Butler State Resort Park. The course follows Lock Road 3.1 miles from the park to the Kentucky River.

  • Merchants upset over sidewalk sale restrictions

    Sidewalk sales are often an important part of a retail business, but many downtown Carrollton businesses were notified recently that they are illegal in some circumstances.

    Section 91 of the city’s code of ordinances gives the restrictions for using the sidewalk in front of a business and sidewalk sales are not included in the ordinance unless it is for seasonal merchandise or as part of a cafe or restaurant.

    In a tri-team match at Fairway Golf Course in Wheatley against Owen and Gallatin Counties, sophomore Quincy Hogan fired low round of the day with a 40 even though she had a few rough holes, head coach Jay Jones said.

  • County to receive additional road funding

    Carroll County Fiscal Court has received verification from Gov. Steve Beshear’s office that an additional $91,690 is being released to Carroll County for work on rural secondary roads. Judge Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson told the members of Carroll County Fiscal Court at the Aug.11 meeting that he had received this notification in a letter from Gov. Beshear.

  • WHAT'S HAPPENING IN TRIMBLE COUNTY

    Wednesday, Aug. 19

    Walk for Wellness will kick off at the 4-H Shelter at the Trimble County Park at 9 a.m. Everyone who participates will receive a free pedometer and insulated lunch bag. The walk will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until the grand finale on Oct. 7th. For more information call the Trimble County Extension office at 502-255-7188.

    Trimble County Seniors will enjoy a Hawaiian Party at the Oldham Center from 10:30-2 p.m.

    Trimble County Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. at the board Administration Office.

    TC Alumni are invited to a meeting at the Trimble County Public Library at 7 p.m. to discuss plans for a new scholarship fund, “Dollar for Scholars.” Refreshments will be served.
